7th Dan Master Steve Rapport is the owner and Head Instructor of Hwa Rang Kwan Martial Arts Center. Master Steve received his Black Belt from Grand Master D. K. Shin in 1995, and has been teaching at Hwa Rang Kwan ever since. Early in 2001 he took over the Eddy Street HRK studio, and began teaching full-time.

In April 2001 he was promoted to Head Instructor; in December 2004 he was promoted to Master; and in late 2015 he was elevated to the rank of Hwa Rang Kwan 7th Dan by Grand Master Shin. He has also been studying and teaching Kickboxing since 1997.

Master Steve is a displaced Londoner who is almost completely bilingual, although he still sometimes says 'anti-clockwise' instead of 'counter-clockwise'. He is devoted to staying on the martial arts' path (the 'do' part of Taekwondo) and defying the ravages of time, which involves plenty of stretching, kicking and interval training, and an obscene amount of running. If you're over 55 and want to catch him, you'd better be riding a motorbike.

Master Steve believes that the defining characteristics of the true martial artist are honesty, integrity, determination, perseverance, respect and, of course, indomitable spirit. He is steadily working towards the elusive goals of balance and harmony of mind, body and spirit.

In one of his previous lives Master Steve was an accomplished rock and roll photographer. and his claim to fame is that David Bowie once walked up to him and said "Hi, I'm David. You must be Steve."

He was right.
